A shocking news has come out from Taiwan, where a 59 year old woman has been sentenced to two years in jail. He is accused of using the fingerprints of a dead person to sign a fake promissory note worth 8.5 million Taiwan dollars (about Rs 2.3 crore).
This strange incident happened in a funeral center in Hsinchu city. According to the report, the woman’s name has been stated as Lee. She approached the person identified as Peng during his funeral. She had come there claiming herself to be Peng’s close friend.
But after some time, Li’s strange behavior made the people attending the funeral suspicious, as soon as she got the chance, she entered the vehicle in which Peng’s body was kept. He opened the zip of the body bag and pressed Peng’s finger on a paper on which he had already prepared a fake mortgage and promissory note.

An employee of the funeral center immediately informed Peng’s family. The family called the police and Lee was arrested on the spot. During search, police found fake mortgage documents, a bank check and ink pad from him.
There was a fear of not getting the money back.
According to the South China Morning Post, Li confessed to the crime during interrogation. He told that he was having a money dispute with Peng. She feared that she would not be able to get her money back after Peng’s death. So he created a fake land mortgage document with the date May 23, 2010, and tried to make it appear that Peng owed him $8.5 million.
Court decision and punishment
The court found Lee guilty of making fake documents and sentenced him to two years in jail. However, the court suspended his sentence for five years because he had confessed to the crime and the fake check had not yet been deposited in the bank.
Apart from this, Lee was fined 50 thousand New Taiwan dollars (about Rs 1.6 lakh) and was ordered to perform 90 hours of community service. An employee of the funeral home said that I have worked in this industry for 20 years, but this is the first time I have seen such a case.
