In today’s busy life, stomach related problems like bloating, constipation or digestive problems have become common due to unhealthy lifestyle and poor eating habits, but the good thing is that you can reduce it to a great extent by changing your diet. Especially seeds rich in fiber can help you a lot in this. In such a situation, today we are going to tell you about three such seeds which can help you in improving overall health along with gut health.

Dr. Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist who has taken training from AIIMS, Harvard and Stanford, has recently told on his Instagram how beneficial chia, flax and basil seeds are for gut health and what is the right way to take them.

chia seeds

According to Dr. Sethi, chia seeds are rich in soluble fiber which takes a gel-like texture when soaked in water. By eating this, healthy bacteria grow in the gut and the problem of constipation goes away. But keep in mind, never eat chia seeds dry. Keep them soaked for at least 20-30 minutes before eating. It would be better if you keep them soaked overnight.

Alsi (Flax Seeds)

Dr. Sethi says that these seeds are small but very healthy. They are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, especially ALA, which reduces inflammation, reduces bloating, balances hormones and improves heart health. But they should always be eaten after grinding them because it provides complete benefits to the body. Ground flaxseed helps in reducing bloating, maintaining hormonal balance and managing cholesterol. They recommend eating it 3-4 times a week.

basil seeds

According to Dr. Sethi, basil seeds, also known as sabja seeds, look like chia seeds but they are even tastier. They swell quickly and contain soluble fiber like chia seeds which improves digestion. Dr. Sethi recommends eating it by mixing it with chia seeds and adding it to oatmeal, almond milk or curd. This increases its nutritional value even further.
