Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that October 27 will be a government holiday for Delhi government employees on the occasion of Chhath festival. This information was given in a statement of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
Chief Minister Gupta said that this holiday has been declared on Monday because the third day of the four-day Chhath festival is considered the most important. On this day devotees offer Arghya to the setting sun on the banks of rivers or ponds. Preparations start early in the morning and families perform various rituals. Keeping this in mind, the government has declared October 27 as a public holiday.
While wishing the devotees, the Chief Minister said that Chhath is a festival dedicated to nature, where people worship the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya. This festival is also a symbol of faith, devotion and cleanliness and gives the message of environmental protection through worship of nature, water and sun.
