Many such memorable advertisements were made in the 1990s which people still remember. One of them was the famous cold drink ad, in which Aamir Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were seen. Aishwarya was not a big star at that time. At that time Aamir had done only a few films and Aishwarya was studying in college. But his one glimpse had made the audience crazy.
Aishwarya was a college girl
Recently, while talking to ANI, famous advertisement maker Prahlad Kakkar told how in this 1993 Pepsi advertisement Aishwarya Rai Just a few seconds of glimpse had convinced the entire nation. He said that it was this advertisement which gave recognition to an ordinary college student of that time.
Prahlad said, “The most difficult task was casting. We needed the right faces for that ad. Aishwarya was unknown at that time. We needed a girl who would grab people’s attention in just four seconds, so that the whole country would say – ‘Wow, who is this girl?’ And that is exactly what happened.”
Prahlad told that he received so many calls that he was distraught. He further said, “The day the ad was released, the very next day I got about 5,000 phone calls. People were asking, ‘Who is Sanju? (Aishwarya’s character’s name in the ad) where has she come from?’
Aishwarya was wearing torn jeans
Prahlad, who was the brain behind this ad, said that he was mesmerized by Aishwarya’s eyes. He said, “I was not satisfied with any girl, no one was able to make the same impact. I wanted a very special face, which would stop the world in four seconds. Then some girls introduced me to Aishwarya, with a bag on her shoulder, in torn jeans, with open hair. She was studying in an architecture college.”
Prahlad further said, “I looked at him and said – ‘Is this him?’ We took her makeup test. But what stopped me were his eyes. When I looked into his eyes, it felt as if the entire universe was contained in them. The color of his eyes also changed with his mood – sometimes grey, sometimes green, sometimes blue. I was stunned to see all this. When we dressed her, she just looked magical.”
