The happiness of Diwali turned into mourning in Udham Singh Nagar of Uttarakhand. There was a head-on collision between a tractor-trolley and a pickup vehicle on the Khatima-Nankana Sahib road on Saturday night, in which four laborers from Uttar Pradesh died on the spot, while three others were seriously injured. As soon as information about the accident was received, police and local people reached the spot and took the injured to the hospital.
All the workers were returning home
According to the news agency report, the police said that the deceased laborers were residents of Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh and were working under a contractor in Khatima area. He was returning home on Friday to celebrate Diwali, when this accident happened. It is being told that all the laborers riding on the tractor-trolley were also carrying some goods with them.
Eyewitnesses said that the speed of the tractor-trolley was high and at the turn it had a direct collision with the pickup coming from the front. The collision was so severe that the trolley was blown apart and the workers were badly trapped. Local people immediately informed the police.
The police team of Khatima police station reached the spot and started relief work. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem, while the three seriously injured laborers were first admitted to the Civil Hospital of Khatima, from where they were referred to a private hospital for better treatment.
Accident due to high speed
SP Udham Singh Nagar said that the accident is being investigated. Initial investigation has revealed that the high speed of both the vehicles was the main reason for the accident. The condition of the pickup driver is also said to be serious. Police have seized the vehicles and further action is underway.
After the accident, there is mourning in the villages of the deceased located in Sambhal. The family members are in shock as soon as they get the news of the accident. Due to this incident which happened before Diwali, there is mourning in the entire area.
