Police have busted a high-profile liquor party in the posh Vesu area of Surat. Vesu police station raided the liquor party going on on the 11th floor of Mangalam Palace located opposite Aagam World and arrested 17 people. The arrested people include city businessmen, government employees and youth studying.
According to sources, Surat Police control room had received information that a liquor party was going on in a flat in Vesu area. As soon as the information was received, the Vesu police station team reached the spot and knocked on the door of the flat. When the police entered the flat after opening the door from inside, they found 17 people partying there. Police seized liquor bottles, snacks and mobile phones from the spot.

During the raid, the police found a half-full bottle of 750 ml Scotch whiskey. Apart from this, two empty bottles, six plastic glasses, three packets of bingo chips, spicy sev and gathiya were also seized. The total value of the recovered goods is estimated to be more than ₹5.18 lakh, which includes liquor, empty bottles and electronic devices.
The police sent all the 17 accused to Surat Civil Hospital for medical examination. In the breath analyzer test, the reports of five people Aditya Rasikbhai Goswami, Vivek Sureshbhai Manani, Deepen Pratapgiri Goswami, Bhairav Arunkumar Desai and Darshan Bhaveshbhai Choksi came positive, while the reports of the remaining 12 people were negative. A case has been registered against everyone for drinking alcohol and possessing illegal liquor.
Most of the arrested accused are youth who are from prestigious areas like Vesu, Althan, Palanpur Patiya, City Light, Adajan and Nanpura. Investigation revealed that the liquor for this party was supplied by a person named Rachit Rajeev Khator, who is currently absconding. The police is now busy searching for this wanted supplier and is investigating from where this consignment of liquor was brought.
