Famous filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has made a big revelation regarding the big decision taken in the casting of his hit film ‘Company’. In which he told that he had earlier offered the role of ‘N Malik’ to Shahrukh Khan, but after meeting him, he chose Ajay Devgan for this film.
In fact, in a recent interview given to Siddharth Kannan Ram Gopal Verma revealed that he had earlier offered this film to Shahrukh Khan. Who were interested in doing it. But after a meeting with the superstar, Ram Gopal Varma changed his mind and cast Ajay Devgan.
What did Ram Gopal Varma tell?
Ram Gopal Varma told that his first choice for the role of N Malik was Shahrukh, but later he changed his mind. He said, ‘My first thought Shahrukh Khan Was to be cast. I went to him and told him the story and he showed interest in it. But I felt that Shahrukh’s body language was very energetic, he was like a live wire.
But Malik’s idea of the character was that of a man who is composed and cool when he is thinking. I thought Shahrukh’s natural energy would be the opposite. Taking Shahrukh in this role again would be injustice to both him and the film.
How was Ajay finalized?
The director further said, ‘I think one is an actor and the other is an actor. I am not saying that one is better than the other, but it is a different style of acting. A person like Shahrukh should be left to his own devices. I think the director will not try to cast him in a different kind of character. But Ajay was naturally right for that role, he is very calm. That’s when I decided to take Ajay. I had just one meeting with Shahrukh, and in that I realized that this would not work, but I did not tell him.
Ram Gopal Varma further told that the day he came out of Shahrukh’s house after the meeting, he called Ajay and immediately selected him for this role. He also told that Abhishek Bachchan was his first choice for the role of Chandrakant ‘Chandru’ Nagre, but Abhishek was busy with two-three films at that time, so he decided to cast a new actor and ultimately chose Vivek Oberoi.
