The son of former DGP of Punjab was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Panchkula. Earlier it was said that death was due to overdose. But then a 16-minute video surfaced, in which the dying son himself has made sensational allegations against his own family. Now his father, who was once the guardian of the law, himself came under suspicion. His wife, mother and sister… all are accused of conspiracy to murder. But after this another 3-minute video of Akil surfaced. Which has further complicated this matter. This case has become a high-profile mystery entangled in politics, relationships and power, which the SIT of Panchkula Police is trying to solve.
Murder case registered against former DGP
Punjab Four family members, including former DGP (Human Rights) Mohammad Mustafa and his wife, former minister Razia Sultana, have been booked for murder and criminal conspiracy in the death of their son Akil Akhtar. This FIR has been registered at MDC Police Station, Panchkula under Section 103 (1) 61 BNS. The police have taken this action on the basis of the complaint of Akil’s neighbor Shamshuddin and the video posted by the deceased on social media.
Akil Akhtar’s body was found under mysterious circumstances
Actually, on the night of 16 October 2025, Akil Akhtar was found dead in his house in Panchkula. His family claimed that he died of drug overdose. But the people nearby and neighbor Shamshuddin found this death suspicious. In the complaint given to the police, Shamshuddin Chaudhary alleged that this death was not a normal death but a murder done as part of a conspiracy.
16 minute video surfaced
After the death of Akil Akhtar, a 16 minute 11 second video of him posted on August 27 has surfaced on social media. In this video, Akil has made serious allegations against his father, mother, wife and sister. He said that his family members are after his life and they are plotting to murder him. After the video surfaced, the police considered it an important link in the case.
Father and wife accused of illicit relationship
In the video, Akil has made the most shocking allegation against his father Mohammad Mustafa and his wife. She said that she came to know about the illicit relationship between them one and a half years ago. Akil claimed that in the year 2018, he had seen both of them in a suspicious state. After this revelation, fights increased in the family and conspiracies started being hatched against him.
Mother and sister also involved in the conspiracy
Akil said in his video recording that his mother Razia Sultana and sister are also involved in his father’s conspiracy. He told that the family tried to file false cases against him and conspired to break him mentally by using political influence. He claimed that he was repeatedly intimidated and threatened to be implicated in fake cases.
A story of detention, rehabilitation and torture
Aqeel said in the video that he was legally detained and forcibly sent to a rehabilitation center, even though he was not under any influence. There neither doctors provided treatment nor proper monitoring was maintained. He alleged that the family continued to harass him mentally and physically even after throwing him out.
Dispute regarding money and business
Akil Akhtar said in his statement that the family used political power to snatch away the earnings from his gas agency. He said that calling him a drug addict was just an excuse to take away his financial freedom. He also said that the family used to insult him and threaten him with false allegations if he protested.
Sister’s marriage and family tension
In the video, Akil told that his sister wanted to marry someone with whom the family did not agree. There was often tension in the house regarding this. He also said that he had doubts about his sister’s financial condition and her sources of income. According to Akil, the family had isolated him on every issue.
Akil’s diary and suicide note
In the video, Akil while referring to his diary said that it contains all the truth of his life and there may also be a suicide note in it. He said that if anything happens to him, his diary and video should be considered as evidence. Akil has also made allegations of being detained several times by the Punjab Police from Haryana and obstructing the bar examination.
FIR on neighbor’s complaint
Aqeel’s neighbor Shamshuddin Chaudhary lodged a complaint with the Panchkula Police Commissioner, accusing the family of murder and conspiracy. On the basis of this complaint, the police has registered a case against former DGP Mohammad Mustafa, former minister Razia Sultana, her daughter and daughter-in-law. Considering the seriousness of the matter, Panchkula Police has also constituted an SIT.
Second video surfaced
After this, another video of Akil Akhtar has also surfaced. The special thing is that both the videos are contradictory. Due to which this matter seems to be becoming even more complicated. On the basis of the first video, an FIR for murder and criminal conspiracy has been registered against four members of the family, but now a new viral video has surfaced, in which Akil is seen giving a clean chit to his family. In the second 3-minute video, Akil said that all the allegations made earlier are baseless. He told that he had made these allegations in the condition of ill health, and the family is taking good care of him. He praised his sister and said that she takes great care of him.
Police investigation continues
Panchkula Police said that the allegations are currently under investigation and no one has been found guilty yet. FIR only means that a complaint has been registered, further action will depend on the outcome of the investigation. Police have started investigating video footage, diary and electronic evidence.
Former DGP issued statement
Former Punjab DGP Mohammad Mustafa issued a statement saying that registration of FIR does not prove any guilt. He said the police had only performed their legal duty and welcomed the investigation. Mustafa said that within a few days milk will turn into milk and water into water. He alleged that some people were doing cheap politics against his family.
Mustafa family’s appeal
Former DGP Mustafa appealed to his supporters and the people of Punjab not to pay attention to rumours. He said that Akil’s death has devastated the family, but they have faith in the law. He has announced to organize ‘Izzatmai Dua’ on 25 October 2025 at Malerkotla House at 4 pm for the forgiveness of his son and has requested people to participate in it.
