A tragic incident took place late on October 25 near a coffee farm in Aligaon village of Koraput district in Odisha in which a young man lost his life. He died of electrocution after coming in contact with electric wires laid to trap wild animals. According to preliminary information, the deceased was Sanjay Badnayak, a class 12 student of Ghatguda village of Dudhari Gram Panchayat of Semiliguda block. He had gone to meet his girlfriend from Aligaon near the coffee farm late at night. It is being told that the young man came in contact with an electric net installed in a nearby field and died on the spot due to electrocution.
Sources said that the minor had talked to his girlfriend on phone some time before going to meet her. The shocked girl returned to her village and informed the local people, who immediately informed the police and took her to a nearby hospital for treatment.
On receiving information, Semiliguda police station officer Anita Kujur and her team reached the spot. Preliminary investigation was done and the boy’s body was sent for post-mortem. As part of the ongoing investigation, two residents of Aligaon have been detained for questioning.
The deceased’s sister said, ‘We want justice in this case. Someone had called my brother to the scene, and it should be investigated. We don’t know exactly what happened. We came to know about the incident only after reaching the spot.
A friend of the deceased said, ‘My friend Sanjay had called me to meet a girl, so I came with him. She asked me to wait for some time at some distance, but after waiting for about an hour and a half, the girl called me to the spot. When I reached there, I found that my friend had received an electric shock.
