The Union Minister participated in a panel discussion titled ‘Growing Together: Trade and Alliances in a Changing World’ at the Berlin Global Dialogue. He said that he was happy to participate in this discussion. Goyal emphasized how India views its trade partnerships from the perspective of long-term mutual development. He also highlighted the huge opportunities opening up in the country for global companies.

No trade deal will be done in a hurry

Goyal made it clear that India will not sign any trade agreement in a hurry. He stressed that New Delhi sees trade agreements as an opportunity to build deeper trust and partnership. He said, “India never takes decisions in haste or under the pressure of the moment.” They acknowledged that the tariffs are on them, and they are considering ways to overcome them.

The minister said India is exploring new markets and focusing on ‘strong demand stimulus’ within the country. Goyal also mentioned American tariffs during the panel discussion. He said that we are looking at how to remove tariffs and we are looking for new markets, while also focusing on strong demand stimulus within the Indian economy.
