The condition of a 60-year-old female patient has become critical due to the negligence of a nurse at King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow. Now the situation is such that the woman’s hand has come to the point of being chopped off.
According to the information, Lucknow 60 year old Kesari Devi, resident of KGMU, is admitted in the Orthopedics Department of KGMU for the last one month. Last week, the patient’s family had requested the nurse on duty to install Vigo, but the nurse delayed despite repeated requests. When the duty changed as the swelling in the hand increased, the new nurse told the investigation that Vigo had been injected into the wrong vein. Due to which the infection has spread. Now the patient’s hand has completely turned black. Doctors fear that if the infection spreads further, the woman’s hand may have to be amputated. The family members have complained about this entire matter to the hospital administration.
Considering the seriousness of the matter, the KGMU administration has constituted an investigation committee. Spokesperson Prof. K.K. Singh has said that “A complaint has been received about hands turning black due to wrong application of Vigo. A committee has been formed to investigate and if found guilty, strict action will be taken against the concerned nurse.” This incident not only raises questions on the functioning of the hospital, but also raises serious concerns regarding the safety of the patients.
