A 24-year-old man chased his ex-girlfriend in broad daylight, stabbed her and then committed suicide by slitting her throat in central Mumbai. A police officer gave this information to a news agency. An officer said that accused Sonu Barai attacked Manisha Yadav (24) on a road in Kalachowki area about two weeks ago at around 11 am. He did this because Manisha had broken up with him.
Called on the pretext of meeting and attacked with knife
Yadav was seriously injured in the attack and a traffic policeman took her to Dr. Ambedkar Hospital in Byculla. Where Yadav died after a few hours. According to the police, Barai suspected that Yadav was dating someone else, which led to a fight between the two and ultimately they ended their relationship.
Meanwhile, on Friday morning the accused called her to meet and also took a kitchen knife with him. When Yadav arrived, Barai stabbed her two-three times and when she ran to save her life, he chased her and entered a nursing home.
The attack continued inside the hospital as well and he caught hold of Yadav and attacked him again, the officer said. People nearby tried to intervene, but Barai was angry and had weapons, so people moved away. Then someone threw a stone at the braai and hit him with a wooden stick, making him realize that he would not be able to survive.
Died on reaching hospital
The officer said that Barai then cut his throat and died on the spot due to excessive bleeding. According to a police release, traffic policeman Kiran Suryavanshi was taking action against vehicles parked on the footpath near the spot when a passerby informed him about the incident.
Suryavanshi ran inside, saved Yadav and without wasting time took him by taxi to Ambedkar Hospital. Later he was sent to Government J.J. He was taken to the hospital, but the doctors could not save him. The official said that Barai, lying soaked in blood at the entrance of the nursing home, was taken to the government KEM hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
