A massive fire broke out in the cargo terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Bangladesh on Saturday afternoon, after which the authorities suspended all flight operations at the airport. The incident occurred around 2:30 pm when a fire broke out in the cargo village of the airport, where goods coming from other countries are kept.
Many bangladeshAccording to media reports, the airport’s executive director, Mohammad Masudul Hasan Masud, confirmed the situation at 3:45 pm and assured that emergency measures were being taken. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the fire was brought under control by the joint efforts of Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority, Fire Service and two fire tenders of Bangladesh Air Force.
At present, all landings and takeoffs have been stopped at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and officials are keeping a close watch on the situation. No clear information has been revealed yet about the cause of the fire and the damage caused by it.
