Maharashtra: Rape accused PSI arrested in Lady Doctor suicide case, surrenders in police station – Doctor Suicide Rape Accused PSI Gopal Badhane Arrested Maharashtra NTC

Police sub-inspector Gopal Badane was arrested on Saturday evening in connection with the alleged suicide of a government woman doctor in Satara district of Maharashtra. This arrest took place on the same day when already accused software engineer Prashant Bunkar was detained by the police from Pune.

Satara SP Tushar Dosi said that Badane surrendered himself at Phaltan rural police station. A case of mental harassment and abetment to suicide has been registered against Bunker. He was produced in the court and sent to police custody for four days.

The doctor who committed suicide was a resident of Beed district and was posted in the government hospital of Satara. He was found hanging in a hotel room in Phaltan city. In the note written on her palm, she alleged that PSI Badane raped her several times, while Bunker mentally harassed her.

The sub-inspector was suspended after his name appeared in the investigation.

Police described Bunker as the son of the landlord of the doctor’s house. The doctor had also talked to him on phone before committing suicide. Badane was suspended after his name surfaced in the investigation. The doctor’s last rites were performed on Friday night in his native village Beed in Wadwani tehsil.

In this case, the police have registered a case of rape and abetment to suicide on the basis of the doctor’s allegations. The family has demanded strict punishment for the accused.

Told the police about receiving threats

Earlier this year, a woman doctor in Satara district had responded to the authorities after one of her police officers complained about her. In response, he said that he was receiving threats from police officers because of his work and was being made fun of for the crimes committed in his native district Beed.

The doctor’s two cousins, who are also doctors, alleged that the hospital administration deliberately gave them postmortem duty to harass them. According to the family, the doctor wanted to do an MD (Doctor of Medicine) course and was preparing for it.
