A major action has been taken against illegal banned drugs in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh. Assistant Drug Commissioner of Devipatan Division Mukesh Jain had received information about the purchase of syrup containing codeine from the office of the Drug Administration Commissioner in Lucknow. On the basis of this information, a raid was conducted at the house of Mohammad Ali in Salarganj of Dargah Sharif police station area. The team recovered a huge quantity of banned codeine cough syrup and painkiller capsules from there. Two people have been detained in this case, while one person is absconding.
Use of luxury car for supply
During the raid, a black colored Creta car, which was being used for supplying banned drugs, was also seized. The vehicle number of Lucknow region is mentioned on this car. Assistant Commissioner Mukesh Jain said that narcotic type drugs were found in the car, hence it has been taken as evidence.
Consumption of narcotic type medicines causes ‘sedation’, which gradually takes the form of addiction. The police are interrogating the arrested people so that the entire network of this illegal business can be revealed.
Drug department adopted strict stance
The Assistant Commissioner said that after searching a person, it was found that his firm license was not valid for a long time. He was questioned about the sale of medicines. Efforts are being made to gather information from the people involved in this illegal business as to how widespread this black business is.
