Overconfidence and Influencer Syndrome, The 17th season of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC) is being telecasted. An 8-10 year old child came to the show and became a topic of discussion. Many people are trolling him on social media while some are supporting him. Actually, the thing is that the tone in which the child spoke to the show’s host Amitabh Bachchan is being trolled on social media by calling it ‘indecent’. This child named Ishit Bhatt is a resident of Gandhinagar, Gujarat and is a student of fifth class.

Many people do not find the tone of the child’s talk on social media appropriate. When we found out, we found out that many children have a syndrome called overconfidence or influencer syndrome. Due to this, many children change the tone of their speech which they themselves are not aware of. When Aajtak.in talked to a psychologist, he also told that yes, this type of syndrome is being seen a lot in children and adults these days.

Understand about overconfidence and influencer syndrome like this

This further leads to influencer syndrome, which is a mental condition in which a child or adult always considers himself the center of attention and feels that his opinion matters everywhere. They start presenting themselves like a brand and this thinking gradually starts changing their behaviour. Due to which they start talking casually to elders, do not listen to others, their tone deteriorates and they start considering themselves right in every situation.

What do psychologists say?

Dr. Sapare Rohit, a psychologist at Sparsh Hospital, Bengaluru, told Aajtak.in, ‘We can link the overconfidence or pretentious attitude seen in children these days to influencer syndrome. According to me, if you understand, in the era of social media, YouTube and reels, children have started trying to appear mature very quickly. They have become accustomed to speaking, posing or reacting in front of the camera. This also affects their behavior and language.

‘Whatever role model they see on TV or mobile, they start copying their style, way of speaking and attitude. When this habit increases too much, the child is unable to understand when self-confidence crosses the limits and becomes overconfidence or misbehavior. Many times parents also feel proud of their children’s smartness and unknowingly promote their wrong attitudes.

brain is like a sponge

Dr. Sapere further said, ‘At this age, the brain of children is like a sponge which learns everything around them, hence parents should take care that they make children self-confident, but also teach them humility, respect and correct expression.’

‘It is important to make children understand that there is a standard of behavior on every platform. In today’s digital world, influencer mindset can quickly bring children into the limelight, but if it is not given the right direction and limits, then in the future it can lead to arrogance, insensitivity and social imbalance in the personality.

If parents and teachers do not pay attention to this, then this overconfidence can later turn into ego, lack of humility and conflict with authority.
