Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati is known for her distinct political style. This style surprises not only his close ones but sometimes even his opponents. Many stalwarts of her party have become victims of this different style of Mayawati and a new name has been added to this list of Shamsuddin Rain.
The BSP chief himself called Raine on the morning of 23 October and informed him about becoming in-charge of important areas like Lucknow, Kanpur and Prayagraj division. The surprising thing is that just a few hours after Maya’s call, a letter of dismissal from Raine’s party was issued. He was accused of indiscipline and increasing factionalism in the party.
However, Raine is saying that this action was taken against him only because he could not pick up a call from ‘Behenji’. But the question arises which Mayawati She is telling Raine about the new responsibility she has got, how can she throw her out of the party just a few hours later?
Mayawati’s decision surprised
It is worth noting that in BSP, Mayawati never gave such freedom to any leader that he could call himself the second or third powerful face in the party after Mayawati. Mayawati has shown many such faces the way out without any hesitation. Among these, there are many names who were considered the backbone of the party organization.
However, these steps of Mayawati also caused loss to BSP. The party has been away from power in UP for 14 years and experts attribute Mayawati’s political style as one of the reasons for this.
How important was Shamsuddin for BSP?
After Naseemuddin Siddiqui left BSP, Mayawati promoted Shamsuddin Rain and worked to present him as a Muslim face. First she was given the responsibility of Western UP and after that she kept giving command of different divisions of UP. He was counted among the leaders close to Mayawati.
In the meeting on October 16, Mayawati had decided to hand over the responsibility of Lucknow, Kanpur and Prayagraj divisions to Shamsuddin Rain. BSP chief himself gave this information to Shamsuddin Rain on Thursday. Two hours later, BSP state president Vishwanath Pal issued a letter of his dismissal from the party.
Vishwanath Pal said that Shamsuddin has been expelled from the party because he has committed indiscipline and has promoted factionalism in the party.
Was one of the selected Muslim faces of BSP
Shamsuddin Rain was one of the few Muslim leaders of BSP, who was currently considered close to Mayawati. Apart from this, Munkad Ali and Naushad Ali are the Muslim faces of the party, but both of them are Ashraf (General) Muslims, while Shamsuddin Rain comes from Pasmanda (OBC) Muslim community. More than 80 percent of the Muslim population is Pasmanda Muslims. Shamsuddin Rain was leading the Pasmanda Muslims in BSP.
Shamsuddin has been in BSP for two decades and has been working on an important position in the party for the last 10 years. In 2019, BSP’s best performance was on the mandal seats held by Shamsuddin Rain. Shamsuddin is considered an expert in strengthening the organization of BSP and organizing cadre camps.
He is considered very important for BSP. Shamsuddin was very important for BSP from the 2027 election point of view, especially for Western UP, where Muslim voters are very important. Dalit and Muslim equation is considered a hit in Western UP.
Action on Mayawati not picking up the phone?
After his dismissal from BSP, Shamsuddin Rain told aajtak.in that he himself was surprised by the action taken against him. All the allegations made against him are baseless. He said that perhaps he was expelled from BSP because he could not answer ‘sister’s’ call.
Shamsuddin tells that he returned from Ghaziabad to Lucknow late at night and at seven in the morning Mayawati gave him the responsibility of Kanpur and Lucknow division. After this, due to his unwell health, he silenced his mobile and went to sleep. During this time, he could not answer the call coming from ‘sister’s’ place. By the time I called back around 10 o’clock, she had become angry with me. I think action has been taken for the same reason.
Describing Mayawati as his political guru, Shamsuddin Rain says that he started his political innings as a worker in BSP. It was Mayawati who made him the booth worker. Uttar Pradesh He even worked as the coordinator of different areas, which was very important for him.
Shamsuddin says that he hopes that once Mayawati’s anger subsides, he will be taken back into BSP. He will soon meet his sister and present his views.
Falling graph of BSP and 2027 elections
The 2007 elections proved to be the biggest achievement of Mayawati’s political career. That year, BSP formed the government with absolute majority by winning 206 seats. The vote share had reached about 30.43 percent. The real key to this victory was Mayawati’s social engineering, in which the Dalits as well as the backward and upper caste communities were helped. Since then BSP has continuously weakened. After the 2022 assembly elections, the question of not only being away from power but also of existence has arisen for BSP.

In the politics of Uttar Pradesh, BSP is becoming weak election after election, due to which many challenges have arisen before Mayawati. The party’s vote share has declined over the years, and several prominent leaders have left the party. Mayawati’s hold on the Jatav community is still intact, but the non-Jatav Dalits have also been separated from her.
In such a situation, the question arises whether she will be able to unite her traditional Dalit vote bank and Muslims in the 2027 assembly elections? This question is because the opposition keeps accusing BSP of being the B-team of BJP. Due to this, the Muslim community is alienated from Mayawati. This is confirmed by the election results being held in UP one after the other. Wouldn’t action on the Rhine deepen this gap?
