Actress Janhvi Kapoor recently revealed that dealing with the male ego in the film industry has been a challenge for her, especially as a female actor. In the recent episode of Twinkle Khanna and Kajol’s talk show ‘Too Much’, Jhanvi told that she often shows herself as ‘less intelligent’ or less capable so that people’s ego is not hurt.
Jhanvi has to face male ego
Jhanvi appeared as a guest in this show with Karan Johar. During a segment, when the host asked her about the challenges she faces in the industry, Jhanvi said that handling her male ego is the biggest challenge for her. She said, ‘I know that I come from a privileged position in my work environment. But the biggest challenge for me has been handling the male ego. Now recently I am in such places where I can express my opinion without any hesitation. But earlier I was in a situation where I had to make myself look less intelligent to please someone. You have to choose your battles and think about how to put forward your point without offending anyone.
Twinkle Khanna, commenting in between, said that she sympathized with Jhanvi’s point, because when she was a young actress in the 1990s, she too had to face similar situations. She said, ‘When I was younger, I had the same problem, and I never understood why there was a need to be diplomatic.’ Jhanvi nodded in agreement and told that instead of expressing her disagreement with a scene, she often shows that she does not understand it.
Jhanvi Kapoor Said, ‘I am still choosing my battles. I know this scene is not right, but I leave it, and express my views on the next occasion. But I have to say 10 good things first and show that I am not capable of doing it, just because I think it is wrong to do this scene this way. I am not saying that this is wrong but I am saying that I do not understand.
Talking about projects, Jhanvi was last seen in the romantic comedy ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’. It also featured Varun Dhawan, Sanya Malhotra and Rohit Saraf.
