A historic campaign has been launched in Shajapur district of MP to protect the crops of farmers from wild animals. With the help of South African experts, 45 blackbucks were captured and released into the Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary.
This operation was conducted in Imlikheda village of the district. During this, Nilgai and black deer were caught using helicopter and Boma technique.
Shajapur District Collector Riju Bafna said, “With the help of a South African team and the forest department, the blackbucks captured from Imlikheda were released in the Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary without any harm to the animals.” He confirmed that 45 black bucks were caught with the help of helicopters.

A popular method in South Africa is to capture animals by herding them into a pen using a helicopter. The initiative aims to address the long-standing problem of damage to crops by wild animals (nilgai and blackbuck) in the district.

According to government officials, this is the first time when Madhya Pradesh Black bucks have been caught from the fields of South Africa and released into the forests with the help of South African technology. This campaign is being run with the permission of the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the consent of the state government.
