The graph of digital payments is increasing rapidly in urban India. Where digital payments in Indian cities have increased by 35 percent this year. In this, the number of women is at the forefront, who do most of the household transactions. This information has been shared in the report named How Urban India Pays 2025, which has been prepared by Kearney India in partnership with Amazon India.
This increase in digital payments is mainly due to women, young professionals and consumers in small towns, who have rapidly adopted new methods of digital payments.
Being used in utility payments
According to the report, now consumers are using online payment not only for expensive shopping like electronics and clothes but also for electricity bills etc. India is now moving towards a US $ 7 trillion digital economy by 2030.
Digital payment is not limited to just shopping
According to reports, now digital payment is not limited to online payment only. Now it is being used extensively in daily transactions. Where the usage of offline payment was 48 percent in the year 2024, it has now increased to 56 percent in the year 2025.

These payment modes became popular
According to the report, the popularity of UPI, cards and contactless modes is increasing. The number of people who are choosing shopping-linked cards related to e-commerce is 65 percent. Tap-and-go payments and credit-based purchases are increasingly trending in metro cities. According to the report, now both safety and convenience have become important factors for consumers.
