A fake voter list has surfaced on social media in Hyderabad, which includes the names and photos of famous actresses Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Tamannaah Bhatia and Rakul Preet Singh. The police have taken action in this matter.
Election officials confirmed that the names and photos shown in the viral voter list were created with doctored and fake voter ID details. After this, Madhura Nagar Police registered a case in this matter.
Use of fake voter ID and photo
According to the complaint of Assistant Electoral Registration Officer Syed Yahiya Kamal, it was falsely claimed in the viral post that the actress is a registered voter at the same address in Hyderabad. Besides, their Voter Identity Card (EPIC) numbers were also tampered. This appears to be a deliberate attempt to mislead and misuse official election information.

A case has been registered under sections 336(4) (forgery with intent to insult someone’s reputation) and 353(1)(C) (public mischief) of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS). Police have started tracing the source of the posts and identifying those who circulated them.
‘Some people are spreading wrong information’
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has also warned that sharing or forwarding unverified information may lead to legal action. The statement said that some people are spreading misinformation and claiming that film actors have been included in the voter list with modified photographs and fake EPIC numbers.
Election Commission’s appeal
This incident has happened a few weeks before the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election to be held on November 11, the counting of votes will take place on November 14. Officials have appealed to voters to rely only on verified information from the official platforms of the Election Commission.
