Elon Musk’s company SpaceX has achieved another big success. On October 13, the company successfully completed the 11th and last test mission of its Starship Version-2 rocket. This flight lasted for about an hour and accomplished all its objectives.
During this mission, launched from the Starbase Center in Texas, the Super Heavy Booster made a safe landing in the Gulf of Mexico just 10 minutes after takeoff. At the same time, Starship reached space and released dummy Starlink satellites and conducted a successful test of restarting the engine, which is very important for Moon and Mars missions.
When the rocket returned to Earth, it faced the heat of the atmosphere and made a safe splashdown in the Indian Ocean. The company says that the data received from this mission will be useful in improving the next model.
Success achieved after many failed tests
Earlier this year, several tests of Starship had failed, but the second consecutive success has increased the confidence of the team. Now the company is preparing to launch Starship Version-3, which will be more powerful than before.
Version 3 will be about 408 feet (124.4 m) tall, while the “future Starship”, which Elon Musk showed in a May 2025 presentation, will be 466 feet (142 m) above the ground. It is believed that this will be “Future Starship” version 4, which Musk has said will be launched in 2027.
Plan to send humans to the moon by 2027
