Ingredients
For Petha:
- Paanwala Petha Fruit or watermelon rind: 1 large fruit
- green Food Color: Small quantity (as desired)
- Water: to boil
for syrup
- Sugar: 1 cup
- Water: 2 cups (double the water for sugar)
- Kewra essence: 1–2 teaspoons (optional)
- Cardamom powder: ½ teaspoon (optional)
for stuffing
- Gulkand: 2–3 teaspoons
- Cashew nuts: 1–2 teaspoons
- Almonds: 1–2 teaspoons
- Pistachios: 1–2 teaspoons
Easy way to make Paanwala Petha:
1. To make petha, use petha fruit or watermelon peel. First of all, cut the fruit from the middle and remove the soft part. Then cut it into thin slices. Cutting it in triangle shape makes it look good and taste good.
2. Heat water in a pan and add chopped petha in it. Boil on high flame for 5–7 minutes. If you want, you can add some green food color. After boiling, petha should appear transparent.
3. Mix one cup sugar and double water and heat it. Make it sticky, so that strings do not form. Put boiled petha in this syrup and boil for 5-7 minutes. To enhance the taste, you can add kewra essence or cardamom powder.
4. Mix cashews, almonds and pistachios in Gulkand and stuff it in petha.
5. After filling the stuffing, apply cloves on top, so that the stuffing does not come out. Prepare all the panpethas in the same manner.
