The courage of cyber criminals in MP is so high that they have now started directly targeting the district administration. A case has come to light of Khargone District Collector IAS Bhavya Mittal asking for money by sending WhatsApp messages to several officers.
Collector Mittal said that more than half a dozen officers informed him that they had received a WhatsApp message with his name and a picture with display picture (DP). Upon investigation it was found that this number had come from Vietnam.
The message gave details of a bank account and read, “I am in a meeting and I need to make a payment immediately. Please deposit money in this account.”
Collector Bhavya Mittal immediately informed about this cyber fraud. Khargon Has been given to Superintendent of Police Ravindra Verma.
In this matter, Cyber Cell in-charge Deepak Talware said that complaints in this regard have been registered on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and investigation is going on.
The Collector has urged common citizens and officials to be cautious of such cyber frauds. All concerned have been informed that calls or messages coming from fake numbers should not be answered and should be blocked immediately.
