Chhath Politics Heats Up in Delhi as AAP and BJP Clash Over Yamuna Water Quality ntc

Before Chhath Puja, the political conflict between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and BJP over the pollution of Yamuna river in Delhi has intensified. AAP has claimed that Yamuna water is no longer fit for bathing and the amount of fecal content in it has reached dangerous levels. Citing the October 9 lab report of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), the Aam Aadmi Party said the amount of fecal coliform at major ghats like ITO is three times more than the standards.

Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bhardwaj said, ‘If Chief Minister Rekha Gupta thinks that Yamuna If the water of Wazirabad is clean, then he should drink the water sample taken from Wazirabad and show it, otherwise stop misleading the poor Purvanchalis. Saurabh Bhardwaj said that if the children of Chhath fast use this contaminated water then they may fall ill. Saurabh Bhardwaj, AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha and spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar reached CM Rekha Gupta’s residence with water samples taken from Yamuna.

There itself, Delhi Government’s Water Minister Parvesh Verma inspected the Birla Mandir Chhath Ghat, where MP Bansuri Swaraj was also present along with him. Talking to the media on Saurabh Bhardwaj’s allegations, Verma said, ‘Earlier governments used to do politics regarding festivals, but we have prepared thousands of Chhath Ghats and the Delhi government is bearing their entire expense.’

Responding to the allegations of Delhi AAP chief Saurabh Bhardwaj, Parvesh Verma said, ‘Delhi pollution The control committee’s sample was taken on 9 October. Now the water is much better than before. Only the women coming to Chhath Ghat are saying that the water is much cleaner than before. We never claimed that Yamuna would be completely cleaned in seven months, but we have worked honestly and the results are visible.
