Congress Party on Saturday released the second list of its candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Five names are included in this list.
Congress Has made Shashwat Kedar Pandey from Narkatiaganj, Mohammad Kamrul Hooda from Kishanganj, Jitendra Yadav from Purnia, Mohan Srivastava from Gaya Town and Mohammad Irfan Alam from Kasba as its candidates.
Congress has expressed confidence in former AIMIM MLA Kamrul Hooda by canceling the ticket of its sitting MLA Izharul Hussain from Kishanganj. This decision is being considered as part of the strategy to prevent polarization of votes in Muslim dominated seats and reduce the influence of AIMIM. Kamrul Hooda had won from Kishanganj in the 2019 by-election on AIMIM ticket.

However, in the 2020 assembly elections, he had to face defeat at the hands of Izharul Hussain of Congress. Now he has left Akbaruddin Owaisi’s party and joined Congress. Earlier, Congress had released the first list of 48 candidates on October 17. With five more names, the total number of candidates announced by the Congress party has increased to 53.
In its first list, Congress had given priority to continuity while expressing confidence in the existing MLAs. In the first list, the party had again given tickets to 11 sitting MLAs including Bhagalpur, Kadwa, Manihari, Muzaffarpur, Rajapakar, Buxar, Rajpur, Kutumba, Karghar, Hisua and Aurangabad.
However, the party has also indicated strategic changes on some seats.
The most notable change was the cancellation of the ticket of sitting MLA Chhatrapati Yadav from Khagaria. In his place, ticket has been given to Chandan Yadav, who had contested from Beldaur in the last assembly elections and lost. Kishanganj can also be kept in the same category, where by canceling the ticket of the sitting MLA, the party has expressed confidence in the candidate from another party.
