There was a dispute between the school management and the parents of a Muslim student in a private school in Kerala over their demand to wear hijab. The school stopped the student’s entry and sent her on leave. This matter has become so serious that the Kerala High Court has decided to give police protection to this school on its demand. However, now the dispute has been resolved. But now PFI strings seem to be involved in this whole matter.
In the meeting led by Congress MP Hibi Eden, the student’s family made it clear that they will follow the school rules and their daughter will go to school without hijab.
After the meeting, MP Hibi Eden said, “The student’s father Anas himself came forward and said that he wants his daughter to continue studying in the same school and follow the rules of the school. This is a big message of secularism for the society. As I said earlier, some people were trying to spoil the communal atmosphere through social media. It does not matter to me whatever is being said against me, but I will not allow the society to be divided at any cost.”
How did the whole controversy start?
On the controversy, the school says that for the last 30 years all the children have been following the same dress code in this school and it has never happened before when any student has demanded to come to school wearing hijab against this dress code.
But for the first time an eighth grade student demanded it. The school also alleges that earlier this student kept following the same dress code for four months but later she suddenly started coming to school wearing hijab, due to which she was stopped and this whole controversy happened. However, this student says that the school management discriminated against her for wearing hijab and harassed her.
The school made serious allegations against this organization
This school also says that a total of 117 children of the Muslim community study here, but out of these, only one Muslim student has objection to the uniform DROS code of this school. It is also claimed that Social Democratic Party of India may be behind this. In fact, the management which runs this private school believes in Christianity and hence this issue has also become communal. The biggest thing is that the name of Social Democratic Party of India is coming in this, which has earlier been accused of supporting the hijab movement in the schools of Karnataka.
The allegation is that in this case too, some workers of the same organization instigated this Muslim student and her parents to go to school wearing hijab and when the school management objected to this, 6 workers of SDPI created a ruckus inside the school, after which Kerala The High Court has decided to provide security to this school.
Wires connecting to PFI of the case
It is noteworthy that in the year 2001, the Government of India banned an organization named SIMI, which was called Students Islamic Movement of India, for terrorist activities. After strict restrictions were imposed on SIMI, everyone thought that now this organization would end ideologically too but it never happened.
Later, some fundamentalists coming out of the ideology of SIMI formed an organization named PFI i.e. Popular Front of India in the year 2007 and allegations started being made that the work which SIMI used to do earlier, is now being done in the name of PFI. Due to these allegations, PFI was also banned by the Government of India in September 2022 and eight more of its organizations were closed along with PFI. Everyone thought that from here the activities of PFI would be curbed. But at that time the Government of India had not banned SDPI associated with PFI, due to which allegations were often made that PFI workers had started working for SDPI. First, questions were raised on the role of this organization in the Hijab issue of Karnataka and now this SDPI party is under the scanner in this issue of Kerala too.
