Air India flight from Milan, Italy to Delhi was canceled on Friday, due to which hundreds of passengers got stuck in Italy just before Diwali. The airline said that the reason for flight cancellation was technical problem. And this decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety of the passengers.
Actually, on October 17, flight AI-138 was to come from Milan to Delhi, but this plane could not take off. Air India said that all affected passengers were provided hotel accommodation, however, due to limited availability, some passengers were accommodated outside the airport.
Re-booking for passengers is being done from October 20 depending on the seat availability with Air India and partner airlines. However, there is a case in which a passenger whose Schengen visa was expiring on October 20 was accommodated on another airline’s flight departing from Milan on October 19 to ensure compliance with visa norms.
Air India said it is providing food and other ground assistance to the affected passengers. An airline spokesperson said that we regret the inconvenience caused to the passengers. Air India is fully committed to the safety of its passengers and crew.
