Delhi University B. R. An inquiry committee has been constituted to investigate the incident of physical attack on a faculty member by Ms. Deepika Jha, Joint Secretary, Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) at Ambedkar College. This 6-member committee is headed by Prof. Neeta Sehgal (Department of Zoology) will do it. This committee will investigate the matter and submit its factual report as soon as possible.
DU Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh has directed the committee to submit its report within two weeks. Its chairperson in the inquiry committee is Prof. DU’s Joint Proctor Prof. with Neeta Sehgal. Jyoti Trehan Sharma has been made member secretary. Along with him, Principal of Hansraj College, Prof. (Dr.) Rama, Prof. Swati Diwakar (Environmental Studies), Principal of PGDAV College, Prof. Darvinder Kumar and Joint Proctor Prof. Avadhesh Kumar has been included as a member.
What did Deepika Jha say on the matter?
Deepika Jha says that she had reached the college on the invitation of the students. The students had alleged that Prof. Sujit Kumar behaved rudely with him. According to Deepika, during the conversation in the Principal’s room, Professor Sujit threatened her and abused her, due to which she raised her hand in momentary anger. Deepika later issued a statement expressing regret over the incident and apologized to the teacher community. He said that his aim was not to insult any teacher, but to ensure the safety of girl students on the college campus.
