The seat sharing formula for Bihar Assembly elections is not being decided between Congress and RJD. In such a situation, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has started playing Akhilesh Yadav’s strategy. Just as Akhilesh had put pressure on Congress by giving symbols to his candidates before the seat distribution in 2024, now on the same lines, Lalu Yadav has also started distributing tickets to his leaders.
The nomination process for the assembly elections being held in two phases in Bihar has started, but the picture is still not clear regarding the distribution of seats in the Grand Alliance (India Block). Instead of getting resolved, the knot of alliance is getting entangled. due to this RJDThe seat sharing formula between Congress, VIP and Left parties is not being finalized.
As soon as Lalu Prasad Yadav returned to Patna from Delhi, without waiting for the seat distribution in the Grand Alliance, he started giving party symbols to his candidates. On about half a dozen seats late Monday evening Lalu Yadav Had given the green signal for nomination by distributing tickets. In this way, Lalu tried to put political pressure on Congress, but the scene changed as soon as Tejashwi reached Patna.

RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav handed over symbols to candidates on many seats late on Monday evening. Lalu gave ticket to senior party leader and sitting MLA Bhai Virendra from Maner assembly seat. After this, RJD symbol was given to Rekha Paswan from Masodhi (reserved) assembly seat, Bogo Singh from Matihani seat, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar from Parbatta, Rajesh Kumar from Hathua assembly seat and Dipu Singh alias Dipu Ranaut from Sandesh seat. In this way, Lalu Prasad played pressure politics by giving tickets to his candidates.
Lalu stepped in the footsteps of Akhilesh
In 2024, SP and Congress together contested the Lok Sabha elections in UP. There was a game of check-mate going on between both the parties regarding seat sharing, due to which seat distribution was not taking place. In such a situation, Akhilesh Yadav started distributing tickets to his candidates without waiting.
SP had made it clear that now it would not wait too long for seat sharing, it also included those seats on which Congress was laying claim. Due to this move of Akhilesh, Congress was put on the backfoot and then had to hastily compromise on SP’s formula.
Lalu Prasad Yadav tried the same trick of Akhilesh Yadav in Bihar assembly elections. Lalu Yadav is said to be angry with the delay in seat sharing in the Grand Alliance. Due to this resentment, Lalu started distributing symbols without any official distribution of seats.
With this step of Lalu, Congress was trying to do pressure politics. RJD alone played a master stroke by putting forward its candidates, but the political game changed as soon as Tejashwi reached Patna.
The game changed as soon as Tejashwi reached Patna
Just as SP was successful in putting pressure on Congress in UP, on the same lines RJD also wanted to put pressure on Congress in Bihar. Congress did not like the idea of Lalu Yadav distributing symbols before the official announcement on seat sharing.
This was the reason why the political game changed as soon as Tejashwi reached Patna from Delhi. Tejashwi Yadav When they reached Patna, at midnight those candidates who were given symbols were called back from Rabri residence.
Congress was angry with the way symbols were given to RJD candidates in Patna during the meeting between Tejashwi Yadav and Congress leaders in Delhi. Congress put this matter before Tejashwi. That is why after Tejashwi Yadav’s arrival in Patna, the symbols issued to RJD candidates have been withdrawn.
At midnight, all the RJD candidates who took the symbol reached Rabri residence one by one and returned the Form-B. In this way, RJD will now do the work of distributing symbols after the formal seat distribution.
Is RJD not able to put pressure on Congress?
As soon as Tejashwi reached Patna, this message was given to him by the Congress that without the announcement on seat sharing, the Congress has not released the list of its candidates till now and has not even given the symbol. In such a situation, it is not appropriate to give symbols to RJD candidates.
It was only after this talk of Congress that Tejashwi called all the candidates with symbols to Rabri residence. In such a situation, Lalu’s move to put pressure on Congress did not work.
In fact, Akhilesh Yadav’s pressure politics on Congress was successful in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections because at that time Congress was under compulsion because it had its eyes on the PM’s chair. Bihar assembly elections are more important for RJD than Congress.
If the grand alliance comes to power in Bihar, then Tejashwi Yadav will not be the Congress leader but will occupy the CM’s chair. Seeing this political compulsion of RJD, Congress made its move, due to which Tejashwi withdrew the ticket distributed by Lalu.
Under no circumstances does Tejashwi Yadav want to contest the Bihar elections by angering Congress, because he knows how important this election is for RJD.
