The IPO of Tata Group company Tata Capital is going to debut in the stock market today. But there is surprising news for those who invested money in it even before the listing. In fact, just before entering the market, its grey-market premium (Tata Capital GMP) has become zero, which means it is indicating a flat listing. Let us tell you that this issue was opened for retail investors on 6th October and money was invested in it till 8th October.
GMP blast before listing
This issue of Tata Capital of Rs 15,511.87 crore is the biggest so far in the year 2025 IPO Is. But while it got a lukewarm response from investors, it was seen showing sluggishness from the very beginning in the gray market also. Under this IPO, the company had issued 47.58 crore shares, which included 21 crore fresh shares. Whereas 26.58 crore shares were offered for sale by the promoters through Offer for Sale (OFS). If we look at the grey-market premium, it has become zero on the listing day, which means its listing can be done without any increase, which will be a disappointing listing for investors.
Received cold response from investors
This big IPO did not get good response from investors as expected. After three days of bidding process, Tata Capital’s IPO was finally subscribed only 1.95 times. If we look at the price band of the company’s shares, it was kept at Rs 310 to Rs 326 per share. The size of one lot was fixed at 46 shares.
Earnings were excellent, then why was the IPO dull?
Tata Group is one of the oldest and largest business houses in the country. Talking about the earnings of its company Tata Capital, there was strong profit in the first quarter of FY26. Its net profit had seen an increase of more than double on an annual basis and had more than doubled to Rs 1,041 crore as compared to Rs 472 crore in the same quarter a year ago.
Apart from this, the total income of the company also increased rapidly from Rs 6,557 crore in the June 2024 quarter to Rs 7,692 crore in the first quarter this year. Despite this, the cold response to the company’s IPO can be attributed to the internal discord that has been going on in the Tata Group for some time, the issue of which has even reached the government.
