The police administration of Idukki district of Kerala was shocked when it received a threat to blow up the more than a century old Mullaperiyar Dam there. Police said on Monday that security personnel conducted a thorough search of Mullaperiyar Dam after the bomb threat. But nothing was found.
Idukki A district police officer told PTI that an email threatening to blow up the reservoir was received at the district collectorate in neighboring Thrissur. He said that as soon as the information was received, a team of police and bomb disposal squad reached the dam site and searched there.
The police officer said that nothing suspicious has been found so far during the search. However the investigation is still going on.
