At the Berlin Dialogue in Germany, he said that our talks with the European Union are continuing. We are talking to America, but we do not make deals in a hurry nor do we make deals by setting deadlines or by pointing guns.
Exploring new markets to avoid tariffs
It is noteworthy that Union Minister Piyush Goyal Are in Berlin to participate in these talks. He said that any trade deal should be seen from a long term perspective. India never takes decisions in haste or impulsively. Apart from this, while speaking on tariffs, Goyal said that India is also looking for new markets to deal with high tariffs.
Is India making the deal on its own terms?
When Goyal was asked whether India was getting a long-term fair trade deal as per the terms, he said that I do not think that India has ever decided on any basis other than national interest, who will be its friends? And if someone tells me that you cannot be friends with the EU, I will not accept it or if someone tells me tomorrow that I cannot work with Kenya, this is not acceptable.
Everyone has their own choice as to which country’s product to buy
Regarding trade deals, Goyal said that the decision to buy a particular product of a country rests entirely with the country making the deal. The world decides which product it wants. This statement of Goyal is important because America is pressurizing India to stop buying crude oil from Russia.
