A sensational case of acid attack came to light during a jewelery dispute in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. According to the information, Sandhya Rajbhar had mortgaged her jewelery to local bullion businessman Arvind Verma six months ago to send her husband abroad and took three lakh rupees in return.

When the woman returned the money and asked for her jewelery back, the businessman kept delaying in returning it. After this, Sandhya along with her brother Chandan Rajbhar went to Sweta Jewelers located at Mayil intersection. There was a dispute between the two parties and it is alleged that during this time the businessman threw acid on him.

Acid attack on jewelery dispute

Due to throwing of acid, Sandhya’s back got burnt and her clothes also got scorched. Chandan’s condition remained critical because acid fell on his face, eyes and chest. Two other people standing at the shop also got burnt. All four injured were admitted to Bhagalpur CHC for treatment and sent to Maharishi Devraha Baba Medical College for further treatment.

Seeing the serious condition of Chandan, he was referred to BRD Medical College. In this case, CO Barhaj Rajesh Chaturvedi said that the police has taken Arvind Verma into custody and the statements of the family members and the injured are being recorded. After receiving the complaint, legal action is being taken. Sandhya told that she had gone to the shop to buy jewelery for Chhath festival, when this accident happened.
