Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday supervised a major exercise of the country’s strategic nuclear forces. This exercise has taken place at a time when there is uncertainty over the proposed summit with US President Donald Trump to resolve the Ukraine conflict.
“Today is the scheduled exercise of the management of our strategic nuclear forces, as reported by the Defense Minister. Let’s start the work,” Putin said. According to the statement issued by the Kremlin, the exercise involved land, water and air-based strategic nuclear forces.

During the exercise, practical launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles and air-based cruise missiles were conducted. The exercise involved the Yars ICBM launcher, the Northern Fleet’s nuclear-powered submarine Bryansk and the Tu-95MS strategic bomber.
