How do women connect?
For this, women have to form a Self Help Group (SHG). There are 10 to 15 women in this group, who save a small amount every month and when needed, give loans to each other from the same fund. Apart from this, this group of women also gets some loan under Jeevika Yojana, which ranges up to Rs 30-40 thousand. Through this amount, the women of the group divide the money among themselves and start some of their work and start earning. These groups further take the form of a business.
Simply put, first of all women have to form a group and then that group gets money under the scheme, for which certain terms and conditions have to be fulfilled. After this, they get this money, with the help of which women start their own employment. After this, other women are also helped by returning the money.
What is the work of Jeevika Didis?
The work of Jeevika Didis is not limited to saving only. They play an important role in economic, social and development work in the village. They earn income from activities like milk production, vegetable farming, goat rearing, incense stick and papad making, tailoring and honey production.
According to reports, till now more than 1.4 crore women have joined Jeevika in Bihar Rural Livelihood Mission (BRLM). More than 13 lakh self-help groups are active. Many didis are now earning Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 per month. Recently a report came out in which it was told that Jeevika Didis of Bihar had started work with a small amount of money and now have formed more than 70 companies.
