India is soon preparing to buy a large number of missiles for the S-400 air defense system from Russia. This deal is said to be worth around Rs 10 thousand crores. Indian Air Force’s S-400 system has already been proven against Pakistan. During the four-day long conflict, this system shot down five to six Pakistani fighter planes and one spy plane at a distance of 300 kilometers. The Air Force had called it a game changer.
According to sources, the Air Force wants to purchase these missiles to further strengthen its air defense capability. Talks are going on between India and Russia regarding this deal. The Defense Procurement Council meeting of the Defense Ministry is scheduled to be held on October 23, in which this proposal can be discussed.
