Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has spoken to his Uttarakhand counterpart Pushkar Singh Dhami over phone and requested for immediate action to trace Hemant Soni of Niwari district, who went missing after falling into the Ganga river in Rishikesh.
In fact, Niwari Software engineer Hemant Soni (30), a resident of Prithvipur area of the district, had gone to Rishikesh with his friend Akshay Seth and a cousin and allegedly fell from the Bajrang Setu bridge on October 16. He allegedly fell into the Ganga river from the Bajrang Setu bridge located near Laxman Jhula on October 16.
Hemant’s cousin Amit Soni told that the bridge was under construction and there was no security guard there. Hemant got a call and he went ahead while talking, when suddenly he heard the sound of falling.
CM’s appeal and family’s plea
Since the incident, rescue teams and local police have started a search operation, but the strong currents of the river are hampering the efforts. CM Yadav spoke to Dhami on phone after the missing person’s family and local MLA appealed for help. He urged to ensure prompt action by NDRF and rescue agencies.
Hemant’s uncle Bharat Soni had released an emotional video and requested the Chief Minister. He said, “We want our nephew to return home safely. He is the only light of our house. Whether the government searches with helicopters or NDRF, we want him to be found.”
