It was some time ago. A couple was smiling in front of the camera in the valleys of Kashmir. It was a pre-wedding shoot before the wedding. A new beginning of two hearts, which was going to be memorable forever. But within exactly a year, one of the couple was no longer in this world. The other was sitting in the police car with his head bowed. This story is about Dr. Mahendra Reddy and Dr. Krutika Reddy, a doctor couple from Bengaluru.
One a general surgeon and the other a dermatologist. Both of them met in the medical circle and got married on 24 May 2024 with the consent of the families. Money, status and love were everything in marriage. The girl’s father told his daughter and son-in-law Bengaluru Had gifted a house worth Rs 3 crore in a posh area. But within a year, the walls of this house were filled with the smell of silence and death, the outcome of which was horrifying.
11 months after the doctor couple’s marriage, on the morning of 24 April 2025. Dr. Mahendra Reddy called his in-laws and relatives and informed them that Krutika was unconscious. They are taking him to the hospital.. People came running. In the hospital it was found that 28 year old Kritika had died. Doctors said that he died in his sleep. Kritika was already struggling with gastro, blood pressure and some health complications.
Yet his sudden death at such a young age surprised everyone. The hospital informed the local police as per rules. A medico-legal case was registered. Dr. Mahendra Reddy and his family said that Krutika was ill. His death is natural. When the police talked about post-mortem, Mahendra was the first to oppose it. He refused to do so citing his profession.
Dr. Mahendra Reddy said, “I am a surgeon, I know my wife’s condition, there is no need for post-mortem.” Even Kritika’s father agreed that there was no need for dissection. But Kritika’s elder sister was adamant. He said, “How will the truth be known without post-mortem?” Everyone bowed to his insistence. Post mortem was done. Nothing was found in the initial report. Doctors preserved the viscera.
This matter gradually went into abeyance. The viscera report came after six months. This is where the story changed. A huge quantity of an element called propofol was found in the report. That is, the same chemical which is present in anesthesia. Now it became clear that Dr. Krutika was given anesthesia through injection and that too deliberately. Because that night only husband and wife were in the house. The needle of suspicion rested on Mahendra.
Kritika’s family filed a case based on the report. Police arrested Mahendra. The surgeon husband broke down during police interrogation. He said, “After a few months of marriage, I had decided that I would kill Kritika. But such a method was needed so that no one would doubt.” On April 21, when Kritika had stomach ache, she gave a small dose. Did the same on 22 and 23 April.
On the night of 23 April, he gave such a heavy dose that Kritika died by morning. Now the question of the police was why did they do this? Why did he take the life of his own doctor wife? During police interrogation it was revealed that Dr. Mahendra Reddy was angry. He felt that Kritika’s family hid her medical history before marriage. Kritika had many diseases. He had blood pressure along with gastro problems.
Had to go to the hospital again and again with him. Mahendra felt that he was tricked into marrying a sick girl. It was in this very well that he conspired to poison his wife. A poison which was given by doctor’s injection and no one even got a clue for six months. The murder was planned in a very clever manner. The death looked so natural that even the police remained silent for months.
Viscera report exposed all the secrets. Dr. Mahendra Reddy’s perfect conspiracy was exposed by his own medical knowledge. Now the police have viscera report, injection, Mahendra’s confessional statement and the motive for the murder as evidence. After a detailed investigation of this case, the police is preparing to file a charge sheet against the murderer doctor, so that appropriate punishment can be given.
