15 people died in a bus accident in Brazil’s north-eastern state Pernambuco. According to Brazil’s Federal Highway Police, the bus driver suddenly lost control.
According to news agency Reuters, police said that during the accident, the bus went into the opposite lane and first hit the rocks on the roadside, then hit a sand heap and overturned. The Federal Highway Police said that investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
Police said there were 30 passengers on the bus, and so far half have been confirmed dead, including 11 women and 4 men. However, the total number of injured has not been released yet. According to the police, the bus driver has suffered minor injuries. His breathing test was done, the result of which was normal.
