The UK Government has strongly condemned the incidents of violence and hate speech against religious minority communities in Bangladesh. This statement was made in the House of Commons, when opposition Conservative Party MP Bob Blackman raised the oppression of Hindus, citing the report of community organization Insight UK.
Blackman, chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for British Hindus, told MPs that the report comes as the Diwali festival approaches. bangladesh It highlights the increasing oppression against the Hindu community. He said houses are being burned, businesses are being vandalized, and temples are being damaged.
On this, Leader of the House of Commons Sir Alan Campbell said, “We strongly condemn all incidents of hate or violence against religious minority communities. We are actively engaged in improving the humanitarian situation in Bangladesh and ensuring a peaceful democratic transition by supporting the interim government. We are fully committed to protecting religious freedom.”
The UK government did not talk about any special security
When asked by Blackman, Campbell did not provide any statement or assurance of action by any specific government minister for the protection of minorities in Bangladesh. Blackman said, “Next week Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists will celebrate their festivals and the New Year, but unfortunately this will not be possible in Bangladesh.”

Blackman has been raising the issue in Parliament since the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s regime in Dhaka last year and the subsequent increasing violence against minorities. He had earlier also informed the Parliament that houses of the Hindu community were being burnt and their businesses were being damaged.
