The news of a painful road accident has come to light from Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh. On Friday evening, a speeding truck hit a bike-riding couple hard on the Karnal-Meerut highway. In the accident, a 40-year-old woman died on the spot, while her husband was seriously injured.
Woman dies after collision with truck
According to the news agency report, this accident happened near Kertu village of Jhinjhana police station area. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Kusum (40), while the name of the injured person is Sumair. Both husband and wife were going for some work on bike, when suddenly a speeding truck coming from behind hit them. The collision was so strong that the bike flew apart and both of them fell on the road.
With the help of local people, both of them were immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors declared Kusum dead. The condition of injured Sumair is said to be serious and he has been referred for better treatment.
Police seized the truck and started investigating the case.
SHO of Jhinjhana police station Virendra Kasana said that after the accident the truck driver abandoned the vehicle and ran away. Police have seized the truck and teams have been formed to search for the driver.
He told that Kusum’s body has been sent for post-mortem and the family has been informed about the accident. In the initial investigation, the cause of the accident is said to be high speed and careless driving. Local people say that speeding vehicles often cause accidents on this highway, but due to lack of adequate police patrolling, accidents are not being stopped. At present, the police have registered the case and started further investigation.
