The ongoing dispute regarding seat sharing in the Grand Alliance amid Bihar Assembly elections has now come to the fore. Congress and RJD candidates are contesting against each other in both Vaishali and Lalganj seats.
Congress candidate Sanjeev Kumar from Vaishali assembly seat filed his nomination on October 15, while two days later on October 17, RJD candidate Ajay Kushwaha also filed his nomination. There is confusion among the alliance workers due to the nomination of candidates of both the parties. The workers are not able to understand for which candidate they should campaign.
The ongoing dispute regarding seat distribution came out in the open.
According to sources, there were long standing differences between the two parties regarding ticket distribution. Although attempts were made to compromise, in the end both the parties fielded their respective candidates by giving them symbols. Congress candidate Sanjeev Kumar said that he will contest the elections under any circumstances and will not make any kind of compromise.
RJD and Congress face to face on Lalganj seat also
Similarly, RJD and Congress are face to face in Lalganj seat of Vaishali district also. RJD has given ticket to powerful leader Munna Shukla’s daughter Shivani Shukla, while Congress has fielded Aditya Kumar Raja. MP Pappu Yadav was also present at the time of his nomination. Darbhanga There is also a tussle in the grand alliance on Gaurbauram seat, where RJD’s Afzal Ali Khan and VIP Party’s Santosh Sahni have filed nominations.
1. Vaishali Assembly
On Vaishali seat, Sanjeev Kumar has prepared his nomination on Congress symbol, while Ajay Kushwaha has also filed his nomination on RJD symbol. Both the leaders are representing their respective organizations, due to which a direct conflict on the seat is considered certain.
2. Lalganj Assembly
Bahubali Munna Shukla’s daughter Shivani Shukla has filed nomination on RJD ticket for Lalganj seat of Vaishali district.
On the other hand, Aditya Kumar Raja has also filed nomination on behalf of Congress. There has been a direct contest between the two parties here.
3. Bachhwara Assembly (Begusarai)
Awadhesh Kumar Rai from Kisan (Kisan Insan Party) has filed nomination for this seat, while Shiv Prakash Garibdas has filed his nomination from Congress. Here too questions are being raised on the unity of the Grand Alliance.
4. Gaura Bauram Assembly (Darbhanga)
Afzal Ali Khan from RJD has filed nomination for Darbhanga’s Gaura Baram seat, while Santosh Sahni, brother of VIP party founder Mukesh Sahni, has also filed nomination from the same seat. Both VIP and RJD are part of the Grand Alliance, due to which this seat has become the center of controversy.
5. Rosra Assembly (Samastipur)
Laxman Paswan has filed nomination from CPI on Rosra seat, while V.K. Ravi (VK Ravi) is in the field. With the Left and Congress coming face to face, an uneasy situation has arisen within the Grand Alliance. Apart from this, RJD has made Rajneesh Yadav its candidate for Kahalgaon assembly seat, while Congress has declared Praveen Kushwaha as its candidate. Voting on this seat will be held in the second phase and the last date for nomination is October 20. No one has registered yet.
Political analysts say that lack of coordination in seat distribution and ambitions of regional leaders have weakened the unity of the Grand Alliance. If this situation continues, the opposition alliance may have to suffer heavy losses in these areas.
