Fast bowler Mohammed Shami and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar have now come face to face openly regarding team selection. Both have raised questions on each other thrice in the last 20 days. It started from 25th September when Team India was announced for the Test series against West Indies. Shami did not get a chance in this series.
Then Chairman of the Selection Committee Ajit Agarkar Had said that there is no new information about Shami yet. However, he has not played much cricket recently and needs to play more matches. That is, Agarkar had clearly said that he has not been given any information regarding Shami’s fitness.

Shami targeted the selectors
About two weeks after Agarkar’s statement, on October 14, Shami put an end to the rumors going on about his fitness and took a sharp dig at the team management. After being dropped from the ODI and T20 team for the Australia tour, Shami said that he is completely match fit and ready to play in any format.
Shami said that there was no discussion with him from the team management regarding fitness. He clarified that if he can play a four-day Ranji Trophy match, then he is also capable of playing 50-over cricket. Shami said, ‘The Indian team did not talk to me about fitness. I am not the person who will go and give information about my fitness. If I can play four-day cricket then why can’t I play 50 overs? If I was not fit, I would have been in NCA and not playing Ranji Trophy.
Now again Agarkar raised questions
Mohammed Shami Responding to this statement, Agarkar recently said in an event that if he had been fit, he would have been in the team. He said, ‘If he says this to me, I will probably answer it. I don’t know exactly what he said on social media. If I read this, I might call them, but my phone is always on for all players. I have talked to him several times in the last few months.
Agarkar said that he has been an incredible performer for India. If he said something, maybe I have to have that conversation with him or he has to have that conversation with me. But if he had been fit, he would have been on the plane. Unfortunately, he was not fit. Let us tell you that Shami has been out of Team India for a long time. He has also not been selected for the Australia tour where the Indian team will play 3-match ODI and 5-match T20 series.
