When CPI did not get even a single seat in the grand alliance, the party had Kanhaiya Kumar contest the elections on its own ticket. Kanhaiya Kumar said, ‘Those who want to fight against BJP will be with Congress… Those who do not want to do so, they will only keep doing multiplication and maths… It is sad that an educated person speaks the language of lathicharge… He also speaks about our Congress in-charge.’
Actually, Kanhaiya Kumar was talking about Lalu Yadav. In those days, Bhaktacharan Das was the Bihar in-charge of Congress, and Lalu Yadav addressed him as ‘Bhakchonhar’. For a few days, the atmosphere between the Congress leadership and RJD became tense, which was later handled by Lalu Yadav by calling Sonia Gandhi.
Congress and RJD are still together, both are contesting the assembly elections under the banner of India Block’s Bihar Chapter Grand Alliance, but Kanhaiya Kumar is having to pay a heavy price for incurring the wrath of Lalu and Tejashwi Yadav at every step.
