Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated in Aaj Tak’s program ‘Panchayat Aaj Tak Bihar’ on Thursday evening. During this, he answered all the questions related to Bihar elections. He was asked the question that Bihar is the only state in the Hindi belt where BJP has never had a Chief Minister, does Home Minister Amit Shah dream that BJP should have its own Chief Minister in Bihar too?
responding to this Amit Shah Said, ‘First of all, I have never seen any dream in my life till date. I am a very sound sleeper. So who told you my dream is suspense for me. Well… Bharatiya Janata Party believes in alliance. As I said, we had more seats in the last elections, yet we made Nitish Kumar the Chief Minister. However, Nitish Kumar himself had called Prime Minister Modi that you have got more seats. Coalition dharma says that the Chief Minister should be from your party. You make it, we will support.

He further said, ‘But keeping in mind the seniority of Nitish Kumar, Prime Minister Modi said on behalf of our party that no, you lead, we have no objection. Even though we had previously secured majority government at the Centre, we formed the NDA government. Even in the states – be it Uttar Pradesh or Maharashtra, wherever we got full majority or got majority with our allies, we have run the NDA government. We have always respected the alliance and will do so this time too.
Rejecting any rift in the NDA over seat sharing in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah clarified that the National Democratic Alliance is contesting the elections under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. In an exclusive conversation with Aaj Tak, Amit Shah said, ‘I am not the one to decide whether Nitish Kumar will be the CM or not. At present we are contesting the elections under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. After the elections, all the allies will sit together and decide on the Chief Minister.
What did you say when Nitish Kumar changed sides?
When asked about Nitish Kumar’s track record of repeatedly changing sides, Amit Shah said, ‘Nitish Kumar is a very prominent leader of Indian politics. He has never been in Congress and his record of being with Congress has never been longer than 2.5 years. Any person should be evaluated over a large period of his life. He is a typical socialist leader. He has been opposing Congress since the beginning of his political career, which started with the JP movement in 1974. Even during the emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi, he fought a good fight against the Congress. I believe that not only the BJP has confidence in him, the people of Bihar also have confidence in him.
Amit Shah gave Nitish’s health update
Clarifying the opposition’s repeated claims about Nitish Kumar’s ill health and alleged erratic behaviour, Amit Shah said, ‘I have had a long face-to-face conversation with him. Many times we have long conversations with him on the phone also. I did not see anything like this in his health. Amit Shah further said that due to increasing age some problems start occurring. He clarified that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is leading the government in Bihar and his team takes all decisions along with him.
