29 year old Dr. Krithika M. Reddy was married to Dr. Mahendra Reddy only last year. On 24 April 2025, his body was found in a suspicious condition in his house. In the initial investigation, the death was declared suicide, but in the post-mortem report, the amount of propofol found in his body made the police suspect murder. Not even a year had passed since their marriage.
Criminal history of Dr. Mahendra
Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said that the accused had obtained the medicine illegally through his hospital. During interrogation, it was also revealed that Dr. Mahendra has a criminal history and many cases like fraud and threatening were already registered against him. Now the police has also added sections of murder in this case. The investigation of this case was started again on the request of the father of the deceased female doctor.
According to the police, Mahendra Reddy’s twin brother Dr. Nagendra Reddy is also involved in similar cases. At present, the police have registered a case against the accused under Section 103 of the Indian Justice Code 2023.
If found guilty, there is a provision for punishment up to death penalty or life imprisonment. Bengaluru Police is taking the accused on remand and conducting further investigation. The family of the deceased has said that they want justice and the accused should be given strict punishment.
