Grand Theft Auto followers need bodily copies of Grand Theft Auto VI so badly that they’re even shopping for faux ones, knowingly. Sellers in China are providing unofficial, disc-style PS5 field units for the sport, in each Customary and “Final Version” variations, full with reproduction circumstances, printed art work and a Blu-ray disc that doesn’t work. They’re offered purely as show items and, once more, they do not even work and will not ever work, however persons are shopping for them anyway.
The explanation? It is easy. Folks need bodily video games and the official GTA 6 copy is a download code in a box, not a disc. The $100 Ultimate Edition is digital solely, too. For followers of the largest launch in years, there’s nothing for a collector to carry, no disc to shelve subsequent to their previous GTA circumstances. That is the void that these replicas are filling.
The units themselves are convincing at a look. The art work approximates the anticipated official packaging, the circumstances look the half and the discs look actual, proper right down to the printing. Some even embrace a content material card with a code. One itemizing credit a design company known as Lionheart, with no official Rockstar Games connection proven wherever.
For what it is value, the sellers are upfront about what these are. They market them as “commemorative set fashions,” show gadgets with no playable recreation knowledge that will run on a console.

The irony is the bootleg appears extra like an actual recreation than the official launch does.
Paradoxically, the faux set appears extra like a conventional recreation than the true one does. The bootleg has a disc the place the official launch doesn’t. For a sure sort of collector, that’s the complete attraction, even figuring out it’s a prop. Some consumers should not ready. Throughout social media, followers have posted that they have already ordered theirs, absolutely conscious the discs do not work. The demand is actual, even when the product shouldn’t be.
None of that is new for GTA 6. We reported when the first GTA 6 cases appeared in China. That is the following step up, full field units for each editions fairly than free circumstances. It retains taking place for one cause: there’s no official collector’s edition and thousands keep searching for one anyway. When the official retailer provides a code in a field and nothing to show, somebody will step in to promote the factor followers really need.
GTA has all the time been one of the crucial bootlegged sequence in gaming, so a thriving counterfeit market round its greatest recreation is not any shock. Shopping for one nonetheless carries the same old dangers, the standard can differ and delivery from abroad isn’t assured. The listings themselves sit in a authorized grey space that storefronts can pull at any time as a result of, properly, you know the way Take-Two Interactive will get with these kinds of issues. As they properly ought to. With that mentioned, till Rockstar provides an actual disc-based collector’s version, the bootleggers will preserve making the model followers ask for.
In case you insist on official GTA 6 memorabilia, there’s a legit possibility. Rockstar sells the official “Goodtime State Vice Metropolis Assortment” field set, constructed for super-fans. It runs round $399 and, in true 2026 vogue, doesn’t even embrace the sport. It’s the closest factor to the shelf piece these bootlegs are imitating, solely actual and licensed. Know that the invoice climbs quick, although. We added up everything Rockstar is selling for GTA 6 and it got here to about $1,700, so one field set is simply the start in order for you the lot.
