Somebody at Capcom has clearly learn the fan mail I’ve been sending them, as a result of today’s free patch for Dragon’s Dogma 2 features a shock little bit of content material: outfits and customized pawns of Laios and Marcille from Ryoko Kui’s beloved cooking manga Scrumptious in Dungeon.
For those who haven’t learn or watched Scrumptious in Dungeon (or, because it’s recognized in Japan, Dungeon Meshi), this may look like essentially the most random collab of all time, a bit like when Nintendo put a literal Mercedes-Benz in Mario Kart 8. However belief me, it’s an ideal crossover. Both Dragon’s Dogma and Scrumptious in Dungeon take a number of inspiration from Dungeons & Dragons—and I’m now simply realizing as I sort this that the abundance of double-Ds within the final sentence most likely isn’t a coincidence.
The free armor units of each Laios and Marcille match completely in Dragon’s Dogma 2 too, though, um…the official Laios and Marcille companion pawns do look a bit of off. Jogs my memory of the Scrumptious in Dungeon episode the place the celebration will get changed by shapeshifters. And hey, even in case you don’t care about this collab within the slightest, a minimum of having Laios’ armor within the sport means we lastly get a wearable backpack! Contemplating a wearable backpack is among the hottest mods for the sport, I’m certain this will probably be large information for all of the non-Scrumptious in Dungeon followers.
Extra importantly, nonetheless, this suggests to me that Capcom isn’t fairly accomplished with Dragon’s Dogma 2. Clearly we simply acquired the Darkish Arisen enlargement, however most of us assumed that was the final piece of recent content material the sport was going to get.
Maybe a brand new enlargement is a stretch, however perhaps we might anticipate some extra cute little anime crossovers like this down the road? A Frieren tie-in definitely feels good for the world of Dragon’s Dogma. Plus, the primary sport had an official Berserk collab, so it could solely really feel becoming for the sequel to get one too. Within the meantime, you’ve acquired till January 27, 2027 so as to add the DiD parts to your sport.
