One other chapter is about to be written in WWE’s working relationship with the Road Fighter online game franchise this month, and this time it entails “Soiled” Dominik Mysterio.
Mysterio is one in every of 5 WWE Superstars who will likely be included within the WWE 2K26 x Road Fighter Elite DLC Pack, which options wrestlers taking part in the roles of Road Fighter characters.
Dom is forged as Ken, and he is joined by Rey Mysterio as Ryu, Bianca Belair as Cammy, The Rock as M. Bison and Final Warrior as Blanka.
The characters within the recreation are modeled particularly after WWE Mattel motion figures depicting Superstars as Road Fighter characters, which makes it additional particular from Dominik’s perspective.
“I have been in a few 2K video games with WWE the previous couple years now, however that is particular,” Mysterio stated. “It is Road Fighter, it isn’t solely a DLC pack that you must pre-order and get individually, but additionally they made it an motion determine. I’ve a pair on the home, and it is in, like, an outdated arcade-style field, and so they’re tremendous cool. I’ve a pair in my recreation room, and it is simply cool to be part of the entire Road Fighter franchise.”
Soiled Dom revealed that he wasn’t advised in regards to the Ken motion determine forward of time and did not learn about it till he noticed pictures. At that time, he immediately needed to get one in his possession.
“I did not know till I began getting tagged within the photos of me as Ken, and I used to be like, ‘What’s going on? Did somebody make this tradition, or like, what’s it,'” Mysterio stated. “After which the corporate ended up telling me, like, ‘Oh no, you are a part of this DLC pack in 2K26.’ And I used to be like, ‘What? That is so sick.’ I came upon sort of just like the old school approach the place I simply stored getting tagged. After which as quickly as I noticed it, I used to be like, ‘How do I get my arms on this motion determine?'”
Ken has lengthy been among the many hottest characters within the Road Fighter online game franchise, which first launched in 1987 and actually rose to prominence with the discharge of Road Fighter II in 1991.
Dominik feels he and Ken have some similarities, noting that Ken’s bio describes him as a fighter who involves the US to “get humbled as a result of he is too cocky.”
Dom additionally acknowledged that each he and Ken have luscious heads of hair, quipping that he might should “golden up the information of the nice outdated mullet” sooner or later to be able to match Ken.
Fittingly, Mysterio likes to play the Road Fighter online game sequence with a few of his fellow WWE Superstars, and Ken is his character of selection when his again is in opposition to the wall in a “glass break in case of emergency” scenario since he is aware of the way to do all of his combos.
Soiled Dom referred to as the possibility to play as himself dressed like Ken in WWE 2K26 a “surreal” expertise, though he did not appear notably thrilled to should share the glory together with his WWE Corridor of Fame father, Rey Mysterio.
Ken and Ryu are finest associates bordering on brothers in Road Fighter lore, and though Dominik and Rey are associated by blood, they have been fierce, on-screen rivals for the previous a number of years.
Typically referring to Rey as his “deadbeat dad,” Dominik expressed pleasure over the possibility to tough Rey up, whether or not it’s in WWE 2K26 or in actuality.
“In fact, I might do it within the recreation and actual life,” Dom stated of beating up his dad. “Even when I gotta get a purple gi and present up at his home and, , hit him with an excellent, old school swift kick. However yeah, I might undoubtedly do some harm as a result of he would not play video video games. I am an avid gamer myself, so I might put belt to ass.”
Dominik went on to say that Rey has by no means overwhelmed him in a online game, and that he’s a “compulsive liar” if he suggests in any other case.
Along with the joy of being a key a part of WWE’s tie-in with Road Fighter, the youthful Mysterio has some large issues on the horizon from an in-ring perspective.
It begins with Héroes Inmortales on Saturday at Gimnasio Olímpico Juan de la Barrera in Mexico Metropolis when he challenges El Grande Americano for the AAA Mega Championship.
Grande beat Dominik for the AAA mega title at Triplemanía 34 final month, ending his yearlong reign as champion.
Americano was aided by Rey Mysterio in that match, because the AAA common supervisor changed the incapacitated referee and made the three depend that topped Grande the brand new champion.
Dom expects issues to be totally different this time round, although, and he referred to as his shot by predicting that he’ll grow to be a two-time AAA mega champion.
“At Triplemanía we had an unauthorized referee that got here in and made the depend, so it should not have counted,” Dominik stated. “And plus, Juan de la Barrera is Soiled Dom city in terms of Mexico Metropolis, so he’d higher come ready as a result of I am taking what’s mine, that is the AAA Mega Campeonato.”
Alongside together with his work in AAA, Mysterio has lengthy been a fixture on the Uncooked roster as a part of The Judgment Day steady with Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Roxanne Perez and JD McDonagh.
Dominik is a two-time intercontinental champion, so it comes as little shock that he has his sights set on getting his arms on championship gold as soon as once more within the close to future.
“There’s loads of issues I might prefer to get performed,” Mysterio stated. “I obtained some beef with [world heavyweight champion] Roman [Reigns] sort of. He tried to throw me out of the ring and finish my profession one time. Sami Zayn, then again, we have got loads of historical past with Sami and Kevin [Owens] in The Judgment Day, so possibly there’s one thing over there with the WWE title on the road. Possibly I would like my IC title again. Possibly I wanna go for the tag titles with JD, get him some gold too. Who is aware of? There’s loads of issues I might prefer to get performed, however we’re taking it sooner or later at a time.”
Soiled Dom seemingly at all times finds a solution to get himself within the combine, and it’ll undoubtedly be price watching what sorts of strikes he makes on Uncooked within the weeks and months to come back.
Till then, Mysterio is concentrated on regaining the AAA Mega Championship and doing a little harm because the Ken model of himself in WWE 2K26.
The WWE 2K26 x Road Fighter Elite Pack formally drops on Oct. 28, full with 5 distinctive characters, in addition to particular signature strikes and 15 Create-a-Celebrity elements associated to iconic Road Fighter characters.
